Barry Burton was a member of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) and the backup man for the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team. He was in charge of maintaining and supplying weapons for his fellow S.T.A.R.S members.

Wesker's Slave[]
"Here, Jill, take this. It's a lockpick. I figured that you, a master of unlocking, would make a better use of it than me."
After covering Jill's assists, a bored Doom decides to head to the kitchen after insulting Wesker, which prompts him to sic Jill on Doom. Jill easily subdues Doom and throws him back into the living room but when he groans about landing on his keys, Jill remembers her time during the Mansion Incident with Barry who gave her a lockpick and called her "a master of unlocking", but her programming quickly regains control and she tosses Doom back onto the couch next to Max.
Once Max finish explaining Jill's Level 3, Mad Beast, Wesker orders Jill to get her a sandwich since he's hungry until Jill has a flashback of 'Jill sandwich' where Barry saved her from a deadly trap, when she heard the word 'sandwich' but again snaps out of it and goes to the kitchen.
